Lamentation

Nowhere do I find a place called Peace.
Turbulence, angst and pain consume me.
Ever troubled is my soul.
Tormented and painful my breath.

Where are you, my God?

Hopeless grey gloom,
Isolation, hunger and cold.
My soul calls out for respite…
Touch, warmth, glow.

Where are you, my God?

Heavy is my heart and chest.
Tight my throat and voice.
How to find solace from this ache;
Where to seek and find repose.

Where are you, my God?

My soul lurches and stumbles on.
The way is piercing and sharp with shafts.
Oh, for warmth against my cheek,
A bird’s wing cover to nestle in.

Where are you, my God?
