Wings

Into the dark without a light
I learn by going
Where I have to go.
Leaving behind the safe
 The familar and the dear

Old Forms crumble
Hiding future from my sight

Ungrounded shaking
Yet somehow sure
My eyes are open
Eager and alert

Wings outspread
Unfurled
Stretching for thermals
I cannot see
Believing what
I cannot know.

This thrusting burst of life
Without crutch clue or aid
Is challenging my core.

On wings of new-forged steel
I soar I soar I soar
